El Monasterio de Piedra Spain

The Monastery of Our Lady of Stone, Monasterio de Nuestra Señora de Piedra, is adjacent to the Stone River, making it one of Aragon's foremost tourist destinations. This popularity is primarily due to the numerous gardens and waterfalls that adorn the Piedra Canyon, created by the river. These picturesque features have transformed the area into a peaceful retreat and leisure spot for visitors. Located in one of the more desolate regions of Spain, the Monasterio de Piedra has a rich history dating back to 1194. During this time, Alfonso II of Aragon and his wife, Doña Sancha, generously contributed an old Moorish castle to the monks of Poblet.
